Part II – “Peter and the Wolf”

Introducing “Peter and the Wolf,” a captivating symphonic story ballet created by Sergei Sergeevich Prokofiev in 1936. This enchanting production was conceived after Prokofiev’s return to the USSR, thanks to Natalia Ilyinichna Sats’ initiative for her Central Children’s Theater. The primary objective of this fairy tale is to familiarize children with the sounds of various orchestral instruments, such as strings, flute, oboe, and horn. The grand premiere took place on May 2, 1936, featuring a narrator (with text written by the composer himself) accompanied by a magnificent orchestra. This particular adaptation by Marianna Kombou and Kasymbek Tynybekov is performed by Ayana Ballet Students, aged between 7 and 14, adding their unique touch to this timeless masterpiece.
